Meet Your Therapist

Welcome!

I’m Amanda Plumb, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) specializing in helping individuals navigate anxiety, panic attacks, social anxiety, depression, dating, relationships, career, as well as,  life transitions such as adulthood, college,  career, marriage, divorce.

I enjoy helping  individuals find their strengths, freedom and healing be their best selves, rather than who the culture says they should be. I have served patients in the Virginia Beach and Chesapeake area for the past eight years, and built my practice on trust, wise and pragmatic counsel, and professionalism.

Haven has been a longtime dream of mine that came to fruition in 2017. My goal is to create an emotionally safe and private environment for individuals to work through past hurts, find freedom from ongoing struggles, grow in their true self, and thrive in their lives and relationships.

I believe trust is built through genuine honesty and authenticity, and my counseling style is person-centered, non judgmental, warm, engaging, conversational and collaborative. I’m an encourager by nature; not one to pass judgment, nor one to please. I enjoy walking alongside my patients and empowering them to make healthy decisions for themselves.

Life will most certainly involve ups and downs and, whether proactively approaching challenges or treating them as they occur, I make my best effort to put patients at ease while providing direction to empower them to withstand any of life’s transitions. I work with patients to pursue a course of action based on their personality and fundamental values.

Your First Appointment

What to Expect at Your First Appointment

  • Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes before your first appointment to complete the "Professional Disclosure Paperwork" which outlines our policies. It will be located on a clipboard on a waiting room chair.
  • Your therapist will come and greet you at your appointed time.
  • Please have a photo ID and Insurance ID Card.
  • If you need to use the gender neutral restroom, it is located down the hall.
  • We do not have any additional paperwork other than that, so you are NOT going to have to complete questionnaires asking numerous questions which are personal and intrusive. Instead, we rather let a patient tell his/her story verbally to the chosen therapist in session AND in the time frame that he/she feels most comfortable. We pride ourselves on a “no judgment zone” environment, as well as, protecting a patient’s dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.

Waiting Room Policies

We are a small practice that also pride ourselves on providing a relaxing office environment. The office is catered to adults in that it is both quiet, private, relaxing and comfortable.

  • Policy # 1: You are responsible for arranging childcare. We do not allow babies, children, or adolescents in the office due to a variety of reasons outlined in our professional disclosure paperwork which will be provided at your first appointment.
  • Policy # 2: We ask that you not bring other friends or family to your therapy appointment, unless they are participating in your therapy session that day. This is  due to the space of our small waiting room and to maintain a private and serene environment.
  • Policy # 3: Please change your cell phone to vibrate as a courtesy to others.
  • Policy # 4: Please take any phone conversations outside of the waiting room. This is in order to maintain a quiet environment.
